Guide

Logging a round

From New round to Finish round. Hole entry is where your data comes from, so this is the page to read twice.

Watch it first

A couple of minutes, start to finish.

1. Start a round

  1. On the home screen, tap New round.
  2. Pick your course. Nearby courses uses your location, or use Search by name.
  3. Choose the tee you're playing from.
  4. Under Round setup, set the number of holes, the ball you're playing, and whether you're walking or in a cart. If you're not starting on the 1st, set Starting hole.
  5. Tap Start round.

Temperature and wind are recorded with the round, so a windy day is remembered as a windy day when you look back at the numbers.

2. Log each hole

The hole screen is one scrolling page. Work through it in any order. Your round is kept on your phone as you play.

Shots

Tap Add shot for each shot you want on the record, putts aside. Those get their own spot below. For each shot you add:

  • Club: tap Select club and pick from your bag.
  • Lie: Fairway, 1st Cut, Rough, or Sand. This is where the ball was when you hit it, not where it ended up.
  • Wind: No wind, Into wind, With wind, or Cross wind.
  • Quality: Good or Bad. Judge the swing, not the result. A thin blade that rolls onto the green is still Bad.
  • Distance: tap Start GPS tracking at the ball, walk to where it ended up, and tap Mark end. The app measures the distance for you.

Tee shot accuracy

On par 4s and 5s, record where the drive finished: Hit for the fairway, < or << for left, > or >> for right, or Miss-hit.

Score and putts

  • Strokes: your total for the hole.
  • Putts: how many you took on the green.
  • Putt distance: the length of your first putt. A three-putt from 8 feet and a three-putt from 60 feet are very different stories, and this is how the app tells them apart.

Green in regulation, up and down, and sand save are worked out for you from your score, putts, and shots. A badge appears when one applies.

Penalties

Open Penalties and add OB for out of bounds or Drop for water and lost balls. They're tracked on their own, so one lost ball doesn't muddy the rest of your numbers.

Notes

Add a hole note if there's context worth remembering, like a bad bounce or a club you'd never hit again. Notes are optional.

Caddy

If you have The Caddy, a Caddy section suggests clubs for the hole based on your own distances. It's advice, not a rule.

3. Move on, or finish

Tap Save & next hole to move on. After the last hole it becomes Finish round, and you land on the round summary with your scorecard and stats.

Need to stop mid-round? Tap the home icon in the top bar. Your round stays in progress and is waiting for you when you come back. Closing the app loses nothing.

Tips

  • Log shots as you play. Reconstructing a round at the 19th hole is how data goes wrong.
  • If GPS is slow to lock, wait for the signal to settle before you mark. A poor signal means a poor distance.
  • Missing a shot's details is fine. Skip it and move on rather than guessing.
